Ruins of Heinrich Himmler HQ are known as Hochwald or The Black Lair (SS officers wore black uniforms).

Himmler's field headquarters are situated near the village of Pozezdrze, by the road Wegorzewo-Gizycko. It was rather typical to locate HQ on the route of the railway line Ketrzyn-Wegorzewo-Gizycko, as it greatly facilitated communication and supply of building materials.

The most attractive structure of the HQ is Heinrich Himmler's bunker (21.4 x 19.3 m), rebuilt in 1944 to resist the increasing number of the Allien's bombs. It was equipped with double walls and vaults, as it had previously been encased with the so-called protective coat. The reinforced walls and vaults were even 8 m thick. Unlike in the Wolf's Lair, there are no anti-aircraft and machine guns posts in the bunker.
